Adam Kubát

After working for 4 years as a financial consultant and 3 years in the Czech Doplněk publishing house, I established Vakát publishing house Ltd. with my colleague in 2006. The primary motivation was to do something on our own that we liked and that we considered meaningful. The publishing house has been growing slowly, we have published 15 titles so far. We started our business without any capital of our own and we are happy to receive positive feedback from our readers and co-operators, slowly establishing our position. Our main focus are translations of contemporary European fiction, we publish some original fiction titles, too. Prospectively, we’d like to increase the number of published titles to 20-30 per year and take on one more employee.
